The Making Of The Gatordogs Rod Smarr former lead guitarist for Dr. Hook asked me in the mid-nineties to make a record with him. I agreed and we picked the name "The Gatordogs". Right away, we started recording the cd in Rod's studio, "Jazbo's Downstairs". We had a great time and some great help, Guest musicians contributing to the cd included Bobby Emmons on keyboards, Bob Babbitt played Bass on "Candy", Barry "Byrd" Burton played lap steel on "Sometimes We Just Say Goodbye". The first song on the cd is titled "Swamp Man" and was inspired by my old, ultra independent, Uncle Melvin and his lifestyle. We mixed The Gatordogs in Memphis, Tennessee at "315 Beale Street" recording Studios, now the home of The Hard Rock Cafe. The Gatordogs cd was released in early 2000. It was fun all the way. |
